About

My name is Cait and I am a work-at-home mother. Let me clarify that term for you. When asked what I do for a living, I refuse to say that I am a stay at home mom – not because I’m not proud that I am home with my son every day, but the term has a negative connotation attached to it. Also, I don’t just “stay at home” and play with my baby all day. On the other hand, I don’t work exactly from home either. I am not employed by a company who lets me work from out of a home office. I literally work at home – like I am basically employed by my home, the baby, the laundry, the dog… You get the idea.

As a very career driven woman with a Master’s of Science in Education, I never thought I would stay home with my child. And just so you know, I voluntarily and very happily resigned from my job. Even though I most definitely complain about being a work-at-home mom, I am thankful every day for this precious time that I am able to spend with my son.

As a first time mother, I found myself facing a hell of a lot of changes. While many people glorify parenthood, I’ll be the first to confess that it is the most challenging job you will probably ever have. Unfortunately, many parents feel like a failure if they admit how hard it can be. Don’t lie – you know every now and again, you daydream about your childless life. And so, The Honest Mommy came to be. I was desperate for a venue to vent my true feelings about the nitty-gritty side of being a mom. I created this blog to share my not-always-glamorous but honest and hilarious experiences as a first time mother. I hope you enjoy it!
